Is the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro unleashed potential or just making waves?
With so many Dolphin robotic pool cleaners, it is hard to narrow down to just one. That’s why I set out and tested over 30+ Dolphin robotic pool cleaners to find the best Dolphin pool cleaner for 2024.
The Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro with Wi-Fi was an intriguing model. A part of Dolphin’s Nautilus line, it seems to pack a ton of features. But without the Gen-2 NanoFilters, how does the Nautilus CC Pro perform, and is it worth it?
Despite the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro featuring Wi-Fi functionality, it doesn’t offer any significant benefits beyond the standard weekly timer in other models – which was disappointing.
With a myDolphin Plus app stripped of features, we were disappointed to find the Nautilus CC Pro missing features we loved in other Wi-Fi models. The stripped functionality of the app isn’t common with just the Nautilus CC Pro either. This issue wasn't unique to the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro. Our reviews of the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus Wi-Fi and Dolphin Explorer E30 revealed a similar scaling back of app features. It appears Maytronics has removed some of the key elements that enhanced the app's utility.
In contrast, the more premium models such as the Dolphin Sigma or Dolphin Explorer E70, come equipped with advanced functionalities like manual control, cleaning history, and more via the myDolphin Plus app. Unfortunately, these advanced features are missing from the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro, marking a clear distinction between it and its higher-end counterparts in terms of digital convenience and control.
It is important not to mix up the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro with the newly introduced Dolphin ProLine. The Nautilus CC Pro does not utilize the commercial-grade motors or NanoFiltration found on the Dolphin Premier and Dolphin Sigma.
Here is what you get out of the box with the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro:
The setup is super easy on the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro. Just like other Dolphin robots, there is no assembly required or booster pump. The motors that power the Nautilus CC Pro are inside the robot, so all you need to do is plug in the robot to get started and connect to the myDolphin Plus app.
I had no problem setting up the robot, but if your pool isn’t next to your home or you have a weak Wi-Fi signal, this may not be the robot for you. I had it connected in under 3 minutes. However since this unit utilizes your home Wi-Fi to connect, it can cause some troubles occasionally. Numerous people online have had difficulty connecting the Nautilus CC Pro to their home Wi-Fi. But luckily, I had no issues at all.
The first thing I noticed once everything was set up was the app. The remote-control feature and cleaning history were missing. Compared to the Dolphin Sigma Review, this came as a major disappointment. For over $1000, you think you’d get this feature.
However, within the app, you can start the weekly timer. But it isn’t the same as the Dolphin Sigma or Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme’s. It only allows you to set the cleaning interval for daily, every other day, or every three days.
This is standard across models like the Dolphin Cayman, Quantum, and Premier, which all use the onboard power supply and weekly timer. I was disappointed you don’t get the “Advanced Weekly Scheduler” like you do on the Dolphin Sigma.
The Nautilus CC Pro offers no advantage over units that have a weekly timer and don’t have an app. It became a pain after a few weeks of testing, as it was the only way to reset the weekly timer was through the app. Occasionally, I had an issue connecting as it would take a few minutes since my wi-fi signal was on the weak side. I much preferred the onboard timer, as it didn’t reply on the app.
The advanced weekly scheduler is where you can set the robot to clean on certain days and times, rather than cleaning intervals. I loved this feature as you could set the robot to clean at 5 pm Friday and 10 am Saturday, ensuring your pool is clean when you need it.
Despite my disappointment with the app, the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro’s pool coverage was great. It effortlessly cleaned the floors, walls, and waterline.
Observing it clean the 40ft inground gunite test pool was a highlight, especially as it scaled 90-degree angles to reach the surface. Once it gets to the top, the side jets push the CC Pro horizontally across the waterline. This is a notable improvement over the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus and Dolphin Nautilus CC, which only clean the walls.
Waterline cleaning is a standard feature among robots in its class, with models like the Dolphin Explorer E30 exhibiting identical performance. Therefore, its effectiveness wasn't a surprise, but it certainly met my expectations.
I loved how easy the top-load filter basket is to use. The Nautilus CC Pro utilizes a larger basket compared to the Nautilus CC. It’s a significant upgrade over the cartridge style of the Nautilus CC Plus and Nautilus CC Supreme too. But how well does it work?
In comparison to the newer Gen-2 MaxBin with NanoFilters that you’ll find in the Dolphin Quantum, the Nautilus CC Pro’s filter is quite lackluster. While it did a great job cleaning up larger leaves, twigs, and even pine needles, it could pick up and filter as NanoFilters did.
I’ve spent a lot of time testing these new NanoFilters from Dolphin. And they’re well worth the upgrade. I am disappointed that Dolphin didn’t include them with the Nautilus CC Pro, but you can find them on the ProLine’s Quantum. The Dolphin Quantum is the only robot with the XXL MaxBin with NanoFiltration.

While the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro cleans large debris great, it struggles at vacuuming smaller debris with Nanofilters. Without Dolphin’s new NanoFilters, it cannot effectively pick up dirt, sand, and smaller debris that cloud your pool water. These second-gen filters are a must-have for pool owners.
Motors. The motors on the Nautilus CC Pro aren’t as powerful as the Dolphin ProLine’s commercial-grade motors. These motors, found in the Sigma and Premier, are upgraded and filter 75 gallons per minute. The increased performance is something you would want to consider if you have a medium to large inground pool.
Lastly, the warranty is shorter than that of more premium robots. The 2-year warranty is pretty standard, but I would have liked to see a longer 3-year warranty like you see in some of the new Dolphin ProLine robots.
Without NanoFiltration, a shorter 2-year warranty, and no commercial-grade motors, the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro falls short of being worth it. There are simply better values and alternatives out there, especially when compared to the new Dolphin ProLine.
The introduction of the myDolphin Plus app was appealing, but you don’t gain any additional features like you do in the Sigma and Nautilus CC Supreme. The app doesn’t let you manually control like more premium robots.
A lot of the weakness of the Dolphin Nautilus CC Pro is addressed with the new Dolphin ProLine. So, let’s dive into some alternatives that you’ll want to look for:
An obvious upgrade is the Dolphin Premier. With Multi-Media, the Premier includes 3 filters in the box: Oversized Leaf Bag, NanoFilters, and the standard filters. With a weekly timer and Media-Alert full filter tracking, you get a fully automated cleaning solution.
The introduction of commercial-grade motors allows the Premier to clean better than the Nautilus CC Pro. It even comes with a longer 3-year warranty, a 30-day risk-free trial, and no restocking fees ever. Rated the best Dolphin of 2024 by USA Today, it is a fan favorite.

If you still want an app but want the upgraded performance of the Dolphin ProLine’s commercial-grade motors, the Dolphin Sigma is for you. With manual control, cleaning history, and even voice control, the Sigma unlocks the features Dolphin blocked out on the Nautilus CC Pro.
With a longer 3-year warranty, NanoFilters, and upgraded motors, the Dolphin Sigma is one of the best robotic pool cleaners of the year.

In the same price range as the Nautilus CC Pro, the Dolphin Quantum offers the addition of MaxBin and NanoFiltration. Within the Dolphin ProLine and Max-Series, the Quantum is a perfect fusion of both. The 2024 model stands out with professional-grade performance at an outstanding price.
